Wine Review by TweSommelier - 2008 Tikal Patriota from Argentina.

I just opened a bottle a 2008 Tikal Patriota from Argentina. The wine is a blend of Bonarda 60% and Malbec 40%. It was named 'Patriota' as these two grapes have been the core of Argentine winemaking. It has a color that is a beautiful dark purplish red. The wine has deeply rich aromas of juicy plums, black cherries, star anise and spice. On the palate, the wine is a big and full-bodied with lush dark grapes, black cherries, currants and multi-colored peppercorns. This wine is very delicious with succulent dark fruit, a body that is light syrup like & a gorgeous finish that will make your heart skip a beat. It has a wonderful balance, structure, character. The tannins are soft and welcoming and you can taste nice hints of toasted oak. This is a beautiful wine that I would highly recommend.
